Programme: Job Readiness Course (45 Days)

Can you please introduce yourself?

Sam: My name is Sam Diallo. I am 24 years old, from Mumbai. I have been part of the Aesthesis Foundation Job Readiness Program, and I am a locomotive officer.

What was your daily routine like before you joined Aesthesis, and what is the biggest change you notice now?

Sam: I used to struggle with communicating. But now I have more creative thoughts, and I can put my sentences together properly. Before, it was very difficult for me to have grammatical fluency.

What is the biggest change you've noticed in yourself since before and after the course?

Sam: I've grown not only in communication but as a person. I understand what needs to be done. There were various things from the course that I learnt — like how to manage time and how to plan effectively. It has really helped me.

What would you say was the most valuable new skill you learnt during the course?

Sam: Mostly the computer skills. I used to know Excel, but not very well — things like working with rows and sheets, and much more, which I learnt over that time. It really helped me grow in that field, and now I'm much better at it.

How did the 45-day Job Readiness course help you prepare for professional life?

Sam: I learnt how to manage my personality and how to build self-confidence. The course gave me insight into my professional life — where I was going wrong, and where I needed to improve.

Can you give us a moment where you applied what you learnt in real life?

Sam: Yes — for the self-confidence part. I used to get scared about putting my thoughts into words when speaking. But at an interview, even though I was rejected, I felt really good, because I had the self-confidence to put forward my ideas and thoughts.

What motivated you to join this course at Aesthesis?

Sam: I wanted to learn new skills. At the time, I was preparing for different job interviews, and I wanted support where I could work on myself. Instead of spending time on other things, I thought upskilling myself would be a good opportunity — that's why I joined the Job Readiness Program.

What about the mentors and trainers?

Sam: The mentors were highly qualified and trained very well. They had strong knowledge of the subject matter. I especially enjoyed the communication and soft skills training — Uma Ma'am gave very engaging lectures. I used to look forward to them. Whenever she got busy, we'd all be asking, "When is Uma's lecture?" That really helped me.

What were some of the biggest challenges you faced as a student?

Sam: Balancing my family routine with the coursework was a challenge.

What support helped you the most — from teachers or staff?

Sam: Constant communication. They always reached out, checked in if there was any problem, and resolved our queries. They were accountable and willing to help. That meant a lot.

What are your career goals and aspirations?

Sam: I want to become a counsellor. There are many challenges children face today, and parents need to support them too. When both have a mutual understanding, they grow together in their own way — that's my goal.

How did Aesthesis Foundation help you?

Sam: The foundation is very helpful — they created a platform where I could work on myself and gain the skills needed for my future.
